Perhaps it was the recent hot weather here in Milwaukee, or perhaps it was simply my internal calendar thinking there was supposed to be a convention in Las Vegas at around this time, but I've begun to think again about the AFM as an institution in need of some reporting.
After the election of Ray Hair and a new IEB, I joked to friends that peace and prosperity in the AFM was going to put this blog out of business. It doesn't appear that the AFM has yet emerged from the era of being severely resource-constrained, from what I hear, but the peace prediction, and its consequent effect on the AFM-related blogosphere, does seem to have been a good one. tHE cOMMITTEE is still in business, but I don't have the sense that anyone is taking them any more seriously now than before the 2010 convention. Aside from them, Im Bloggen nichts Neues.
It will be interesting to see if things heat up over the next few months. I've heard no rumblings at all of any serious opposition to this administration, which is quite different than the case one year before the last convention. But I haven't had my ear very close to the ground, and of course lots can happen between now and June 2013.
