You are absolutely correct that it's a sad day, but not just for SSD. I had the privilege of working on a few projects with Laura, and I found her dedication, intelligence, and sense of humor a joy, even when we had completely different approaches to the issue at hand. She understood the issues facing institutions and did not belittle the very real problems that various orchestras encountered. The AFM will find a successor, I hope, but they will not be able to replace her.
